Vintage and Boutique at Guitar Summit 2019

Even though most musicians can only dream of vintage and boutique guitars, they still provide the stuff of legends. In addition to the current range of guitars and basses, the vintage and boutique area will also be prominently represented at the Guitar Summit.

The exhibition area of the European Guitar Builders e.V. (EGB) alone is worth a trip to Mannheim. Numerous guitar builders, some of them already known from one of the Holy Grail Guitar Shows, are represented here. Among them are well-known names like Nik Huber, Jens Ritter, Pagelli, Spalt, Stoll and many more.

Udo Pipper

Udo Pipper demonstrates the sound of legendary Gibson and Fender instruments from the 50s and 60s in his workshop “Vintage vs. Present” and compares these guitars with high-quality replicas of the present. Are the old instruments really so much better or just artifacts for the collector’s showcase? In addition there are lots of sound examples and anecdotes. Of course Udo brings some old and new Les Pauls and Stratocasters…

Hanno Busch & Nik Huber Guitars

Hanno Busch is Nik Huber Guitars endorser for many years. In this workshop he will give an overview of the current product range and its constructive and therefore also tonal characteristics. And he’s got his own Huber (model Rietbergen) with him. There is also time for a question and answer session with Nik Huber himself.

Torsten de Winkel und Sascha Teuber – Eyb & Elyra

The guitar virtuoso Torsten de Winkel, musical partner of a multitude of Grammy and Echo prize winners across an astonishingly broad stylistic spectrum, has already impressed with his debut “Mastertouch” with Michael Brecker, Ernie Watts and others. He soon appeared on the stages of this world with the Pat Metheny Group, Joe Zawinul and many musicians around Santana, Herbie Hancock and Miles Davis. With Hellmut Hattler he has recorded 35 CDs and since 2006 he is again a permanent member of his tour line-up. For 15 years he has been the artistic director of the interdisciplinary Bimbache openART Festival and its global network of artists and thinkers.

Torsten de Winkel plays in duo with Sascha Teuber – both Berklee graduates – various EYB and ELYRA instruments. Not only the two exceptional musicians but also the creative and innovative ELYRA instruments will be presented.
