Acoustic Highlights at Guitar Summit 2019

Acoustic guitar fans will find Taylor, Martin, Takamine, Ovation, Ortega, Lakewood, Höfner, AER, Baton Rouge, Breedlove and other top brands as well as an extensive workshop program. The big acoustic highlight on Friday evening is of course the Guitar Summit Acoustic Party with concerts by various acoustic stars! The starting signal will be given at 18:30; admission to the party is of course included in the ticket price.

For the Guitar Summit Acoustic Party we invited some special stars of the scene to the Guitar Summit:

Petteri Sariola

Petteri Sariola is a fingerstyle virtuoso and a singer-songwriter, who’s known for his fierce live performances, beautiful songwriting and percussive approach on the acoustic guitar. He picked up the six string at the age of 7, but after countless non-functional bands he ended up developing a style of his own, covering all the sounds of a full band on a steel-string acoustic while singing his heart out. No loops, no backing tracks. Sariola has released four solo albums, played almost a thousand shows touring solo around Europe, USA and Japan, and reached millions of viewers on YouTube.

Alexandr Misko

Alex without doubt is one of the most sought-after fingerstyle guitarists in the last two years. Not least his numerous gigs, which are distributed around almost the whole world, show this. Most recently, the 21-year-old exceptional guitarist from Russia played a long and very successful China tour. In 2016 his debut album was released on CD, exclusively with his own compositions. Since the end of December 2017 his current album is available. Another one with popular cover songs is only available via online download. Alex is currently reaching more than 46 million views on his YouTube channel.

Gewa guitars „Unplugged Rock“ mit Ragnar Zolberg & Rob Marcello

Ragnar Zolberg, from Iceland, is a rocker through and through. Known from bands such as “Pain of Salvation” or his own band “Sign”, he knows how to cast a spell on an audience with his multi-faceted vocals, and he puts his own stamp on each song.

Rob Marcello lived in the USA for many years and replaced Andy Timmons on guitar for Danger Danger. His virtuosic playing puts a smile on every guitarist’s face. He manages to breathe new life into well-known songs again and again, without distorting their original spirit.

In the GEWA Guitars “Unplugged Rock” tour, you will experience rock classics that are well known from radio and TV but in a completely new light. Two outstanding musicians bring their personal, unique style to this show and, with their pleasant Scandinavian humor, they skillfully convey that good songs do not always require much effort to inspire the audience.

Janek Pentz

This young Polish composer and guitarist combines all his musical influences in the fingerstyle. They range from hard rock music to gentle classical music. He was a laureate of many prestigious competitions. His music consists on the one hand of fast and dynamic harmonies, on the other hand also of calm and peaceful passages, an effect of his thoroughly philosophical reflections. Janek accompanied guitar legend Tommy Emmanuel during his tour of Poland in 2017 and has already shared the stage with many international artists.

Peter Finger

Peter Finger is an acoustic guitarist, guitar builder and publisher of the magazine ‘Akustik Gitarre’. With his music Peter achieves the perfect harmony of virtuosity, musicality and composition. The attentive listener will always come across the sound of Debussy, Ravel or Stravinsky – or may find himself in rock or the wide world of jazz.

Warsaw Fingerstyle Festival

The Warsaw Fingerstyle Festival is one of the most important events of the acoustic guitar scene in Poland and has already served as a springboard for many artists. At this festival many young fingerstyle guitarists of various musical styles have the chance to show their skills to a wide audience.

The Guitar Summit is the official partner for this year’s festival. The core of this partnership is the promotion and support of the contest. After a first preselection via YouTube the players will get the chance to play live in front of a jury on September 21, 2019, right at the Warsaw Fingerstyle Festival.

The winner of the contest will then play live at the Guitar Summit in Mannheim to open the Acoustic Party on Friday evening.
