DIY

Also this year there will be a DIY-Area at the Guitar Summit. Here you can build your own amps, guitars, basses and pedals under expert guidance. The sale of the single offers will start soon so keep your eyes open! But we already have an overview for you, which offers there will be.

  1. Build your own tube amps (powered by Tube Amp Doctor)
  2. Build your own FX pedals (powered by Moody Sounds)
  3. Build guitars & basses (powered by Musikhaus Kirstein)
  4. Modifying FX Pedals  (powered by Lehle)

1. Build your own tube amps

Under the expert guidance of Stephan Mayer (Tube-Amp-Doctor), we are this year offering four course participants the exclusive opportunity to build their own amplifiers on an absolute boutique level, independently and with their own hands.

The course is spread over two days and takes place on Friday, 27.09. and Saturday, 28.09., from 10:00-16:00. The presale for the TAD-Masterclass starts in calender week 24 over the TAD online shop. The required tools will be provided by the Doc.

Included in the package:

– Exclusive 2-day advanced course

– Complete TAD “One-Twelve-16-Combo 5E3-Style Black Tweed” kit, including all components

– Handmade case from the USA, covered with original tweed, black lacquered

– Celestion Ruby Alnico Upgrade Speaker

– TAD protective cover

– Food and soft drinks on both days

The package for € 1699 includes all necessary components so that the amplifier is ready to play at the end of the course. Each amplifier will be VDE-tested after completion. The participants can either take their self-built amps directly with them or have them sent to them by TAD.

2. Build your own FX pedals

Due to the great success last year and the high demand you have the possibility to build pedals under competent guidance again in 2019.

After a short introduction by Sweden’s pedal guru Albin Roslund (Moody Sounds), you will go straight to the soldering iron: You transform a circuit board and a handful of small parts into a stage-ready and individual effect pedal. No previous knowledge or background knowledge is required, apart from a little patience and logical thinking.

The pedal is assembled under professional, English-speaking guidance in a small group of 10 people. Approx. 3-4 hours are scheduled for the assembly.

Please note: Due to the limited number of participants we recommend a quick registration.

The following pedals will be available: BJF Analog Reverb, Carlin Compressor, BYOC Analog Chorus, Lehle P-Split, Moody Fuzz, BYOC Germanium Boost, BYOC Octave Fuzz, BYOC Tremolo Moody Overdrive.

3. Build Guitars & Basses

Together with the guys from Kirstein you will build your personal instrument in the workshop from 9:30-17:00 under expert guidance. Anyone can participate – you don’t need any previous knowledge!

The basis for your new favourite guitar are various Rocktile electric guitar and electric bass kits, which the Kirstein guitarists have put together for you. You can choose your favourite from many different designs. You don’t have to worry about more than that, because the Kirstein guys will not only bring you the kit of your choice, but also all the tools you need for the workshop.

You can expect a workshop that is a lot of fun and doesn’t overwhelm anyone! Only the finishing, i.e. the varnishing of your guitar, will unfortunately not be possible during the workshop due to lack of time. However, Kirstein’s experts will be happy to give you some really good tips on how to finish your work at home.

The DIY-Workshop takes place on Sunday, 29.09.2019, from 9:30-17:00 in the DIY-Area of the Guitar Summit and is limited to 8 participants, so that the Kirstein professionals can take care of every workshop participant perfectly.

4. Modifying FX pedals with Lehle

Problems with a defective foot switch? How about a high quality Lehle Switch BTN, the silent switch that you can press at least a million times?

Contact Lehle and find out if your effect pedal is suitable for modification. At the Guitar Summit, you can then modify your pedal with professional assistance from a Lehle technician.

Saturday, 28.09.: 17:00 – 19:00
Sunday, 29.09.: 15:00 – 17:00
